Why, hello there! Thanks for stopping by!

I take it you’re here because you’d like to know a little more about me, huh?

Yes?

Cool…

Well, I’m Mrs. M.O.B. (Bosslady at home) and I love my kitchen. Except for washing dishes… I really hate washing dishes. I hope to one day hire someone just to wash my dishes… Oh, and do my laundry…Oh, and fold my laundry. I hate folding laundry too.

But I digress…

Please note: I’ve opted for a Q & A because honestly, I haven’t mastered the whole “talking about me” deal.

It’s.Just.Too.Weird.

Read on for some Q&A about yours truly…

How long have you been cooking?

I began cooking at 19. Before that my cooking ability consisted of oatmeal, eggs, and doughnuts made out of Pillsbury biscuit dough. Back in the day I made a mean fried biscuit doughnut! I learned to cook purely to impress my then boyfriend, now husband, Mr. M.O.B. I hooked him through his belly and taste buds. This is where a lady holds the power… Pro tip: Don’t relinquish that hold…

A few burnt meals, plus one two hour late night trip to score some Benadryl following an allergic reaction; I finally, finally got the hang of it.  After he was thoroughly impressed I figured in order to maintain the upper hand I had to keep cooking… So I did…

You say you love to bake – When did you start?

Glad you asked! I’ve been baking since the spring of 2006. Before that I couldn’t bake so much as a cookie. I took a baking course which was actually geared towards cake decorating. During said course I was introduced to my first scratch recipe, and that one recipe initiated my love (read: obsession) for all things baked. It was something that came natural to me; as if my brain + hands + baked goods = soul mates.

Good math…

Baking is how I make friends now. It sort of fills the awkward “getting to know you” silences. I just shove a brownie or cookie in their face. Once they get over my initial abrasive attack and actually taste said cookie or brownie, I’ve got ‘em!

Which do you enjoy more, baking or cooking?

I enjoy baking much more than cooking. Actually, I’m a much better baker than I am a cook, even though I’ve been cooking far longer. I can burn a steak faster than I can burn a loaf of bread.

Why is that??

I guess because it’s easy to forget a steak. Seriously, though – I suppose it’s because baking relaxes me, and when I’m relaxed I’m at my best. Baking provides these Zen moments where I enter a world of complete peace and tranquility. The air stills the second I pull out the flour. Baking is also about precision, formulas, measurements – Which appeals to the nerd-i-licious girl buried within the confines of my psyche; she loves measuring spoons, digital scales and tells wicked colorful jokes.

Oh, and the smiles! There are the smiles… Bake someone a good cake, and there’s that instant “You have made my day” smile. I’m a sucker for those.

How many cookbooks do you own?

Honestly, I haven’t stopped to count. I just keep buying cookbooks that seem interesting to me.

Do you have a favorite cookbook?

Hmm… That is a great question; but since I don’t want to offend the other cookbooks, I’m going to say no.

What do you want to do for the rest of your life?

Oh, that’s easy – I want to be a superhero!  However, I’m not privy to any underground experiments, so I’m putting that on hold. Close second? Cooking and baking for the rest of my life would be the bee’s knees.

Why did you start a blog?

Quite honestly I was initially against the idea since I’m not much of a writer. I’m also not much of a food photographer, but I’ve gotten better…ish… A friend of mine encouraged me to go for it, share my journey, those less than graceful klutzy moments inherent in my DNA, and good food.

This has certainly been fun – Thank you Mrs. M.O.B. for taking the time to answer my questions!

You’re quite welcome! 😉

Now please, sit down. Hang. I’ll make it worth your while. Oh, and if you hear of any underground superhero experiments, send requisition forms to – mindoverbatterny (at) gmail (dot) com.

Love,

Me…
