Boozy Drinks

The Gin Buck

Gin Buck {mind-over-batter.com}

The Gin Buck’s jump off point is a homemade spicy ginger syrup. Freshly squeezed citrus, a healthy dose of gin, and seltzer round out this refreshing cocktail. It won’t be summer unless you have at least a bucket fulla these!

Look around you… Take a moment. Just look. This is exciting! There is green sprouting its holla hands. Can’t you see them? They’re way up in the air. You can’t miss them. There is green sprouting from trees, there is green pushing its way, letting its presence be known – Even in concrete. You can’t stop that shit.

There is green all up in this piece, yo. I have to admit: Last year I didn’t appreciate the green. The colors didn’t seem as bright, nothing seemed as lush. This year, I’m appreciating the shit out of the green.
It’s green! Holllllaaaa!

It’s mojito season!

That’s what we’re about today.
Flow with me…
This Gin Buck is the shizzle and it starts with a simple syrup. A couple of weeks ago I made a bangin’ ginger simple syrup. I mean, bangin’. It’s all the goodness of ginger in liquid form, dude. We don’t drink commercial brand soda in our house. That’s where my syrups come in. With pureed fruit, sugar and water – You’ll have concentrated goodness to last a couple of weeks. You know what that means for this Gin Buck, right? It means lotsa cocktails in your future, boo.

The hardest part of this cocktail is making the ginger syrup. Once that situation is out of the way (and properly stored in your fridge), you are golden. Now let’s talk about this drink.
I’m getting thirsty.

Traditionally Gin Bucks are made with a lemon or lime juice, gin, and ginger ale. We’re taking this situation a step further. In addition to the homemade ginger syrup, which we’re bubbling up with seltzer – I used the juices of BOTH lemon AND limes.

Yo…. Seriously… I can’t even talk about this drink without wanting one in front of me. Like right now. Even if you’re not into gin, this situation is mega refreshing. Even adding more booze doesn’t change the composition of this drink. It’s bracing; a sure thirst-quencher for what I’m hoping to be drawn out summer season full of laid back summer days and warm summer evening breezes.
This is my new summer drink. And it will be yours too. So be about it.
