Blueberry Milk

Blueberry Milk {mind-over-batter.com}

I am crazy clumsy.

For real, real.

I may look graceful, but I am really one of the clumsiest chicks you will ever meet. I’m clumsy with style, though. I play it off well. You could never tell it was me who bumped into and broke those mini dessert glasses.

Oh, and I’m also in the habit of throwing things away by mistake. I can’t help it, really. I’m a multi-tasking chick.

This is precisely why my glassware ends up in the garbage one way or another. Example? This past Saturday I had some glasses lined up on my counter, ready for a shoot. A large bottle slipped from my grasp and landed on top of 2 glasses.

This is why we drink out of mason jars. They’re Mrs. M.O.B. proof.

So when UncommonGoods reached out to me and asked I review products from their personalized gifts or baby gifts collection, I was ready to go Supermarket Sweep.

I zoomed in on their baby gifts first (can’t help it); however, since my baby is 6 I had to (regretfully) pull myself away. If you have babies, check out their amazing collection of baby gifts. You’ll soon notice why I had a hard time pulling away.

I then peeped their personalized gifts collection and these CUTE family glasses jumped out at me.

See, here’s the thing about the M.O.B. household: SOME people like to drink out of OTHER people’s glasses, like sneaky ninjas. Then it gets Gladiator Style as we fight like mad, claiming the glass holding that cold drink is ours.

It’s awful, really.  I’m embarrassed for us.

These personalized glasses each come with an adorable illustration in cutesy packaging – From mother, to father, to child(ren), to pet. This means no more confusion! Plus they’re sturdy and large.

Definitely Mrs. M.O.B proof.

I made something fun to showcase these adorable glasses. Having tons of blueberry simple syrup, I made blueberry milk. Blueberry milk is easy and super tasty.

Blueberry simple syrup, blueberries, milk, condensed milk, and a splash of vanilla extract is all it takes to make it happen. You blend with ice, strain and serve.

Now that every family member is reflected in a glass, and I fill them consistently with this deliciously creamy blueberry milk there is peace in our land.

For now…

Ingredients

For the Blueberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • Splash of vanilla extract

For the Blueberry Milk

  • 1 cup Blueberry Simple Syrup
  • 1 pint of fresh blueberries
  • 4 cups of whole milk or whichever milk you prefer
  • 2 tablespoons condensed milk optional
  • Splash of vanilla extract
  • Ice
  • Whipped cream optional

Instructions

Make the blueberry simple syrup:

  • Combine the blueberries, water, sugar, and vanilla extract in a small pot. Bring to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat and simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved and the blueberries have burst and softened, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and strain the mixture, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids or save them for another use, such as an ice cream topping. Transfer the simple syrup to a glass container with a tight fitting lid. Simple syrup will keep for a couple of weeks in the refrigerator. To extend the life of the simple syrup, add about a tablespoon of vodka. Your syrup will last MONTHS this way. Makes about 1 1/2 cups of simple syrup.

Make the blueberry milk:

  • In a blender combine the blueberry simple syrup, blueberries, milk, condensed milk, vanilla extract and ice. Blend on high until smooth, about 3-4 minutes. Strain the mixture onto a large measuring cup with a lip. Be sure to press on the solids to extract as much milk as possible.
  • Serve in large glasses and add a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
  • Makes 4, 8 ounce servings.
